Margus Tsahkna assumed office as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia on 17 April 2023. Having started his career in local politics in 2002, Margus Tsahkna was a member of the 11th, 12th (2007-2015) and 13th (2017-2019) Riigikogu and has held several ministerial positions: Minister of Defence (2016-2017) and Minister of Social Protection (2015-2016). Tsahkna was head of the Pro Patria political party from 2015 to 2017, after which he left politics to work in the private sector in the field of war and disaster medicine. During his experience in the private sector, Tsahkna created the new political party E200, which successfully entered the Riigikogu after the general elections in March 2023. Margus Tsahkna has studied theology and religious studies, and international law.
